OFER WOLBERGER RECENT PAINTINGS

September 18 to October 24

Ofer Wolberger’s show, Focus Group, presents 3 bodies of work, each entirely different in shape and format. The space is marked by 10 of Wolberger’s iconic “eye piece” paintings, characterized by their tall, vertical format and painted in acrylic on the 3 sides of the canvases.

The paintings stare, to different effect, at pieces from a puzzle laid out on a broad white table. The 12 orphaned, oversized jigsaw puzzle pieces make up Study for Puzzle 1—brought into conformity only by whatever aesthetic similarities they happen to share.

Looking back at those 12 pieces are 5 more works from a new body of work by Wolberger called The Observers. Painted in a deep blue, the sculptural shapes vary in size and are defined by 2 holes that create the vague suggestion of eyes.
